The Charleston Light Opera Guild will present Miracle on 34th Street on December 19, 20, 26 and 27 at 7:00 pm and December 21 and 28 at 2:00 pm in the Culture Center Theater at the West Virginia Capitol Complex. This holiday musical classic boasts and score and book written by Meredith Willson, who also wrote the book and score for The Music Man.
This musical is adapted from the 1947 award-winning 20th Century Fox holiday motion picture staring Maureen O'Hara, John Payne, Natalie Wood and Edmund Gwenn. 20th Century Fox reprised the movie in 1994 with actors Elizabeth Perkins, Dylan McDermott, Mara Wilson and Richard Attenborough. The films were based on the novel by Valentine Davies.
Single mother, Doris Walker, doesn't want her young daughter's head filled with romantic notions. Their neighbor Fred Gailey tries to woo Doris by charming Susan and taking her to see Santa Claus at Macy's where Doris works. Doris is not impressed—but when it turns out that Macy's Santa may be the real Kris Kringle, a wave of love spreads across New York City that melts even the most cynical hearts.
The musical is filled with humor and spectacle and songs from Pinecones and Hollyberries to It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas. The heart-warming story is one for the entire family.
Tickets for all seats are $20 each. Tickets may be purchased at the Guild Theatre, 411 Tennessee Avenue, Charleston, WV, starting December 15, 2014. Open Mondaythrough Saturday 11:00 am to 2:00 pm (except Christmas Day). BUY TICKETS ONLINE NOW!
