The Charleston Light Opera Guild will present CATCH ME IF YOU CAN on June 20, 21, 27, and 28, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. and June 22 and 29, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Charleston Civic Center Little Theatre during FestivALL Charleston 2014.
Based on the DreamWorks 2002 film and the true story of Frank W. Abagnale, Jr., this entertaining and splashy musical was created by an award-winning dream team with a book by Terrence McNally (Ragtime and The Full Monty) and a score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray). The production received four Tony Awards nominations, including one for Best Musical, winning Best Actor in a Musical for Norbert Leo Butz, and the Guild will be staging the first West Virginia production!!
The musical’s story of Frank W. Abagnale, Jr., a teenager who runs away from home in search of the glamorous life, and the FBI agent Carl Hanratty, who chases him to the end, is punctuated by music from the swinging sounds of the 1960’s. With nothing more than his boyish charm a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged checks, Frank successfully poses as an airline pilot, doctor and a lawyer – living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams until he is stopped by Hanratty.
The Artistic Director/Choreographer is Nina Denton Pasinetti.
